KHAYALIYAT | OF MUSINGS - ILLUSTRATED TRIVENI BOOK
For the Semester 7 design project, I created a dummy client scenario by choosing to illustrate a collection of poems written by my HOD, Sambit Sir. The result is ख़यालियत | of musings an illustrated Triveni book that pairs his poetry with visual interpretations, treating his written work as the manuscript and building an entire illustrated identity around it.
Client
Since the "client" was essentially an existing body of poetic work, the need wasn't to generate content but to interpret it — to translate the tone, rhythm, and imagery of each Triveni into visuals that felt like a natural extension of the words rather than a literal decoration of them. The poems needed a visual voice that could carry their reflective, musing quality across every spread.
Charater/ Illustration
Early in the process, I explored several illustration styles before landing on a recurring character inspired by Sambit Sir himself — a loose, expressive figure drawn in various instances and moods throughout the book. Rather than illustrating each poem literally, this character became a visual stand-in for the poet, appearing in different scenes and postures that echo the emotional register of the verses around him.

Format and size
The book is postcard-sized, a deliberate choice that makes it a travel-friendly companion something a reader could genuinely carry, flip through, and revisit on the move, in keeping with the wandering, musing spirit of Triveni as a form.
